Of course, a delicate fabric such as chiffon can only be washed by hand. But there are specific rules to keep in mind. Generally, on the garment’s label to be washed, all the washing and ironing methods are specified, so before you prepare to wash the garment, check what it says.

It is always advisable to use a neutral detergent strictly in cold water for washing delicate garments. Absolutely avoid wringing the clothes you have washed, as you could damage the shape. For the same reason, do not expose it to the sun with clothespins, but spread it out on a surface to not cause unsightly marks.

As for dry cleaning, it is preferable to take the clothes to the laundry. In fact, when in doubt, it is always better not to take risks, especially if you particularly care about that garment. In specialized laundries, they know perfectly well how to treat these fabrics.

If you want to give it a try, pour some talcum powder on the stains to absorb the grease. Then wet with vinegar and let it dry. Then carry out a delicate wash only of the dirty part.

Remember that the delicacy of this fabric makes washing in the washing machine too aggressive. Surely the garment would come out damaged and deformed. The only type of chiffon that can be machine washed is polyester because it is synthetic and more resistant.

Wash chiffon garments without adding other fabrics, especially other colors, to the wash. Otherwise, you could ruin your beloved clothes. Set the cycle for delicate items at a low temperature. If the clothes have beads, sequins, or metal parts, it is highly forbidden to use this type of washing. You would risk losing them during the spin cycle.

Note: Do not hang garments with clothespins to avoid damaging the fabrics with unsightly marks.
