It is well known that the house must be kept clean and tidy. As they say, with the arrival of the flowering season, the ideal would be to implement the so-called spring cleaning. To do this, many delicacies are required, since being too aggressive, you would risk ruining the dirty parts of your home.
Among the things to do, there is above all the curtains’ washing, which takes time and a lot of effort. Simple washing in the washing machine is often not enough to remove stubborn dust and stains. So let’s see together how to remove stains from curtains effectively.
First, separate the white curtains from the colored ones, as they will need different treatments. Take care of the white ones initially. To remove stains of all kinds, such as grease, grease and coffee stains, dirt, dust, and yellowing, put your curtains in the washing machine.
Prepare a solution with the juice of two lemons and two tablespoons of white vinegar, about 100 ml, and 30 g of coarse salt. Coarse salt helps brighten and whiten curtains. Program the washing machine in the rinse cycle where there is no spin cycle, and you risk damaging the curtains beyond repair. Always use a delicate washing program.
Activate the washing cycle, and when the basket is filled with water, switch off. After about an hour, restart the washing machine and let the washing finish. If the curtains’ stains persist, put a suitable dry stains remover or Marseille soap on the affected area.
Let it act for a few minutes. Then, please put it back in the washing machine, add normal laundry detergent, preferably liquid and delicate, and some active oxygen bleach. Run a washing program at 40°C. Spread your curtains in a ventilated part of the house and let them dry. Avoid exposing the awnings directly to the sun because it will tend to yellow them.
Take the colored curtains and put them in the washing machine. Pour a glass of white vinegar (100 ml) and 30 g of coarse salt directly into the basket. Start the rinsing program and when the washing machine is filled with cold water, switch it off.
Leave it on for more than an hour, and then restart the wash cycle. When finished, add your normal laundry detergent and 20 g of baking soda. Run the washing machine with a 40°C wash program without spinning. Spread out the curtains and let them dry. Good job!
