How to remove grease stains from your shirt

Staining clothes is probably the most frequent and, at the same time, the simplest thing that can happen a few moments before meeting other people. In particular, grease stains and being a temporary problem can also permanently damage the fabric.

In this regard, in the following guide, I will show you how to eliminate grease stains from fabrics permanently. More specifically, from the shirt, through simple and effective solutions, which allow the garment to be used again as if it were new. So let’s see how to proceed.

Needed: Dishwashing liquid, toothbrush, talcum powder, teaspoon, Marseille soap, absorbent paper, iron, stain remover, spray stain remover, water.

First of all, the first method to be adopted to remove a grease stain from the shirt is to use a dish detergent, an excellent degreaser; apply it on both sides of the shirt with your finger, and then work with a toothbrush, drawing circles with it.

If the detergent you are using to wash the dishes is colored, dilute it before using it to avoid the formation of streaks. If the stain is quite recent, it is recommended to pour some talcum powder immediately. After removing it with a spoon, pass the Marseille soap over the stain; for huge stains, it is better to wipe with absorbent paper before using talcum powder.

Subsequently, an alternative method, always for recent stains, is to pass, after using talcum powder, the iron (not excessively hot) on the surface and, subsequently, put the shirt in the washing machine, using a stain remover.

After washing, if you can use a dryer, do not use it anyway because the air emitted is too hot; dry the shirt in the open air, thus preventing the stain from sticking to the garment. If the shirt is colored, hang it inside out to avoid spoiling the colors.

Also, to clean grease-stained shirts, it is possible to use a spray stain remover; spray it on the affected area, work it with a toothbrush, then bring an abundant amount of water to a boil in a saucepan and pour it a little at a time on the shirt, after having placed it in a tub.

Keep the saucepan with the water as high as possible when operating. The force will be able to release will be greater, effectively breaking the fat’s chemical bonds. Subsequently, put the shirt, without other clothes, in the washing machine and wash it with a normal detergent, always drying it in the open air.
