How to remove Ants from home without Insecticide
Ants adapt easily to any environment, quickly invading even the most hidden corners of the house. A few sprays of insecticide would be enough to eliminate them, but if you are looking for an equally effective way that does not involve the use of chemicals, take a look at the solutions presented below. You can ward off ants with a series of simple remedies to implement, as well as respecting the most common hygiene rules.
Be very careful to maintain impeccable cleanliness
Ants are omnivorous insects, but as is well known, they are particularly fond of substances with high sugar content, present both in the products of the pantry and in the leftovers of food.
For this reason, it is necessary to be very careful to maintain impeccable cleanliness: dirty dishes must never stay too long in the sink, all crumbs from the floor must be removed, and the packs of sugar, biscuits and other foods stored in the cupboard must always be well sealed.
Distribute the talc or coffee on the path
If, despite the hygiene and the foresight not to leave food residues at home, your unwelcome guests return, you need to change your strategy. At this point, you can take into account their weak point and act accordingly: ants have a very developed sense of smell, but they hate too strong smells.
Study the usual path they usually go through and sprinkle it with talcum powder or distribute coffee pots. The intense perfume given off by these two elements will keep them away.
Resort to essential oils
An alternative solution is to use essential oils, substances capable of releasing intoxicating fragrances into the air. Among the most suitable essences are eucalyptus oil and cajeput oil, which is also excellent germicide.
Mix 5 ml of cajeput oil with 5 ml of eucalyptus oil and add 20 ml of ethyl alcohol: you will get a natural air freshener, but at the same time effective against ants. Just spray it in the corners and the areas most at risk, with the help of a vaporizer.
Obstruct access routes
If you manage to locate the entrance that allows the ants to enter the house, block the access routes. With electrical tape or using silicone, close all suspicious cracks and plug holes near doors and windows.
If you have a garden, don’t forget that ants can be useful for clearing the lawn of small animal carcasses. In this case, eliminating them is not convenient: move them away, leaving a few grains of sugar in the most distant points from the house.
