Mold is a common and widespread fungus in homes. In the ecosystem, it decomposes and recycles organic matter. In the home, it represents a real problem, potentially dangerous. Mold reigns in humid environments, such as walls or furniture, floors, sofas, and carpets.
In many cases, it acts as an allergen contaminant. It releases spores into the air that trigger cough, asthma, nose irritation in the eyes, and respiratory diseases. For these and many other reasons, it is important to prevent its appearance in the home. You will gain health and give your home a healthier appearance.
To prevent mold in the home, carefully check all rooms. Moisture favors its appearance. Condensation forms in the bathroom after a hot shower; or in the kitchen. It is caused by cold walls, a wrong or malfunctioning thermal insulation system.
The appearance of mold is frequent in poorly ventilated environments, with hidden water leaks. Over time, the walls become moist, favoring the proliferation and spread of harmful spores. Then check for external infiltrations or leaks in the pipes. Take action immediately, as mold will form, bringing new complications.
To prevent mold from appearing in your home, clean the bathroom, kitchen, and basement walls regularly. Wash sinks and shower curtains to sterilize surfaces. Use the bleach, placing a plastic sheet on the floor.
In this way, the bleach will not damage the tiles, especially in terracotta. Air the rooms of the house daily, to have a good chance of air. Proceed by filling a spray bottle with two parts of water and one of bleach (also perfumed). Spray on the vertical surface or between the tile joints.
Don’t overlook any area. Finally, scrub with a soft bristle brush and dry with a microfiber cloth. This simple operation can be done once every two months to prevent mold and unwanted bacteria effectively.
Promote good air circulation with special extractors. These devices activate with increasing humidity. Preferably, do not dry clothes at home. Clean your refrigerator seals often and limit the number of indoor decorative plants.
Place a dehumidifier in the rooms and keep the furniture three to four centimeters away from the wall. In this way, air circulation is favored. Regularly sanitize drawers and cabinets with a solution of 50% water and distilled white vinegar.
Use this technique at least once a year and dry well with a microfibre cloth. Ventilate the room before putting your clothes back on to eliminate the stale smell. The latter is a clear indication of the appearance of mold.
