How to polish the grit kitchen sink

The kitchen sink is used every day, which makes it vulnerable to rapid deterioration, mainly due to abrasive cleaners and contact with the dishes.

Some solutions can be implemented to restore it to its original state without running the risk of damaging it. Those in grit tend to scratch and stain more easily than those made of metal, porcelain, or fiberglass.

Here are some simple steps to help clean and polish the grit sink to always look like new. Most of the necessary items can easily be found in home-improvement stores. Here’s how to proceed.

Needed: Sponge, Detergent, Polishing.

Start cleaning the sink by removing any dishes, glasses, dishes, and debris inside the sink. Rub the stains using a sponge or scouring pad without exerting too much force to avoid the risk of scratching the surface.

Wash the sink with lukewarm water and dry it with paper towels. Spray a small amount of detergent, but first, test it in a small area to make sure it leaves no marks and does not damage the grit. Using a toothbrush in a circular motion, spread the detergent throughout the sink, making sure to distribute it evenly on the tap and the drain base.

At this point, apply a stain remover and leave it to rest for 2 to 5 minutes depending on the depth of the stains (not beyond. Otherwise, it could corrode the enamel on the surface); then rinse thoroughly with hot water, removing any excess stain remover residues with a clean cloth or absorbent paper.

Now use a polishing agent specially designed for cleaning and polishing the grit, to which you can add a few drops of baby body oil, rubbing it in the sink with a clean cloth.

For the sink to always maintain its brightness, it is good to carry out the same procedure every time the surface appears opaque. Regardless of the material with which it is made, the kitchen sink needs daily care since it is one of the most-used elements in the home. But if it is properly maintained, it can last very long.

Note: Avoid prolonged use of abrasive products.
