How to polish the floor with natural products
When we clean our floor, we all aspire to get a good result and polish everything to the best. There are numerous products on the market to have clean and sanitized floors, but they contain many chemicals that are harmful to us and the environment.
Fortunately, there are equally efficient natural alternatives, which allow us to polish the floor without polluting and perhaps saving something. The advantage is even greater if there are children and animals in the house because they spend a lot of time on the floor, and exposure to chemicals will be greater.
Let’s see how to polish our floor with completely natural products, generally directly available at home, depending on the material we need.
If we have a common tiled floor (stoneware, ceramic, or porcelain), creating natural detergents to clean it is very easy. Just dissolve in about two liters of very hot, almost boiling water, a glass of vinegar, a little Marseille soap cut into small flakes, two bottle caps of lemon juice, and a spoonful of baking soda.
Mix well and wait for all the elements to dissolve (baking soda and soap flakes). With this detergent made of only natural products, it will be enough to give a single pass to obtain a clean, sanitized, and shiny floor. We can use it as a very common detergent: dip the cloth after cleaning part of the floor, wring it out slightly and then move on to the next rooms.
With the most stubborn dirt, we can first pour a little vinegar directly on the stain and wait a few minutes. Then wipe the damp cloth as in the rest of the floor. To have an even more shiny effect, you can brush the almost dry cloth again, wringing it first with great force or rinsing it first under running water.
For ancient terracotta and marble, we must use products that are not too oily because the tiles are porous and can absorb the detergent with which we polish the floor. In two liters of water, dissolve half a glass of vinegar with neutral vegetable soap and lemon juice flakes.
Mix carefully so that all the ingredients are perfectly dissolved. We must use these natural products with a rag with fairly large fibers to make friction on the floor to be polished. Wring the rag well and brush all the surfaces with a little hot water. For the most difficult stains, go over the rag soaked in our solution to natural products.
The wooden floor and the parquet need special treatment. Delicate and slightly aggressive products must be used. Otherwise, the floor will immediately be damaged. In about two liters of lukewarm water, dissolve a spoon and a half of baking soda, and if the floor is particularly dirty, the flakes of neutral soap.
Please do not squeeze the rag excessively but leave it wet enough to allow it to slide easily on the floor. Without giving too much weight, go over the drier cloth to better polish the floor.
- Apple cider vinegar can be used, which has a sweeter and more pleasant smell.
- Vinegar is beneficial for keeping ants away.
