How to Fix the Sheets to the Bed
Attaching the sheets to the bed for a night of comfort and convenience under the blankets’ warmth is not always as easy as it may seem. Although the sheets generally have standard sizes based on the type of bed to be covered (single bed, single bed and a half, as the French bed, or a double bed, that is the classic double bed), there are some cases in which securing the sheets securely to the bed can become a problem.
An example is a double bed whose structure has two single mattresses, one next to the other, instead of the classic double mattress. In this case, fixing the sheets to the bed can be a complicated operation, as the two small mattresses, side by side, are wider than a single couple of mattresses. Here are some suggestions, then, to find out how to fix the sheets to the double bed with two single mattresses, so as not to have to buy a new and expensive double mattress!
To attach the sheets to the double bed consisting of two single mattresses side by side, the best advice to follow is to attach a single sheet with elastic corners to each mattress. In this way, the pair of mattresses will be perfectly covered, and the two sheets with the elastic corners will remain perfectly anchored to the two mattresses without moving an inch during sleep.
A second trick to consider, to fix the sheets to the bed precisely, is always to tuck the sheets under the mattress. Tucking in the sheets always means folding them towards the inside of the mattress, starting from the external corners and then carefully tucking in the side edges with your fingers. In this way, the bed will be tidier, and during sleep, even if restless, the sheets will remain perfectly still around the body.
Finally, to fix the sheets to the bed in a compact way, whether it is a bed with two single mattresses side by side or, more generally, a bed with a mattress a little wider than expected, you can try to fix the corners of the sheets, under the mattress, on the metal base or the wooden slats of the bed, with simple elastic bands or with fabric ribbons, piercing the sheets at their corners and sewing, with a sewing machine, the edges of the holes, so that the sheets do not risk tearing.
