How to clean slots in roller shutters
Shutters are a straightforward and effective window protection system. Generally, it is also the most convenient system because very little maintenance is required. Even when they break, they are easy to fix. It is not necessary to change the whole roller shutter but only the damaged part.
In this way, we save money and, very often, money. The roller shutters also have some minor drawbacks. Of course, cleaning isn’t one of those things we need to do frequently. At least with each change of the season, it is good to sanitize them. The problem with cleaning the roller shutters is the gaps between one slat and another.
We don’t have enough space to put your hand in, but dust and dirt accumulate easily. In this guide, we will explain how to clean the slots in the blinds and effectively.
The first thing to do to clean the blinds’ slots is to dust the entire surface with extreme care. If we bathe without having properly dusted, we will get a bad result. An extremely sticky and difficult to remove water and dust sludge will form.
Also, the dirty water will penetrate even more into the cracks, making cleaning even more complicated. We then lower the roller shutter leaving the slots open. We pass the broom over the entire surface, dwelling on the cracks. With extreme calm, we must try to pass the broom bristles through the holes. In this way, we will give a rough first.
As a second step, we have to pass a hydrostatic cloth to dust. In this way, we will have the opportunity to remove the powder in depth before cleaning with water. We can use the classic rectangular clothes, trying to insert one side into the shutters’ slots.
But the work can be quite long and uncomfortable. Instead, we buy hydrostatic clothes with fringes and a wand to pass it faster along the entire surface and inside every crack.
At this point, we can finally wash our blinds. Before acting on the cracks, we must clean the external surface with a cloth wet with plenty of water. If we clean the cracks first, all the water will fall back into the cracks when we wash the outer surface.
Our work will otherwise be useless, and we will have to clean the inside of the cracks again. After cleaning the surface, we take a cleaning brush with long and fairly stiff bristles.
Let’s soak it in the water and pass it between one stick and another. Then we pass a dry cloth to remove excess water. Our roller shutters are now thoroughly cleaned.
