How to Clean Firebricks

Unfortunately, the external refractory bricks can absorb water. They can stain due to mold and moss and can completely ruin if they are not cleaned correctly. There are some effortless ways to clean firebricks, and in this guide, we will show you how.
Although very resistant over time and resistant to high temperatures, refractory bricks are characterized by a material that can still stain and be damaged, especially if used for external constructions.
The bricks that are used to build fireplaces or internal constructions certainly remain much cleaner and more and require less constant cleaning. As for cleaning the external refractory bricks, it is essential to use the right products to eliminate all traces of dirt, dust, or stain caused by anything such as rain, mud, earth, humidity, etc.
To start cleaning the refractory bricks, you will have to wet them with warm water initially. You will have to pour enough hot water on the most stained parts to dissolve the traces of excessive dirt.
Now take a brush with iron bristles and rub the bricks vigorously, taking care not to scratch them and not to scrape with too much force. If the dirt doesn’t go away, you’ll have to use a few drops of acid to get the bricks back again as before. Be very careful to use the acid, wear gloves, and always cover your eyes with protective glasses.
If it is a less important stains, you can also use Marseille soap dissolved in boiling water, eliminating dirt traces immediately.
If the stains concern refractory bricks inside your home, you can use a piece of a kitchen sponge and rub with a few drops of degreaser. Once this is done, your bricks will return to shine as before.
