How to clean and sterilize dishes and cutlery

During everyday life, we use dishes several times. Plates, cutlery, and glasses are inevitable objects in the home. They are necessary for eating in peace and safety while maintaining hygiene.

As these are food utensils, their cleaning is fundamental. In general, it is more than enough to clean the dishes with a sponge and detergent thoroughly. But in particular circumstances, it can be helpful to eliminate as many germs as possible.

The first fundamental step is to wash the dishes and cutlery thoroughly. To do this, simply use a dish sponge and suitable detergent. There are many on the market, some of which contain vinegar or lemon. Why such an addition? It’s straightforward. Vinegar and lemon are two natural elements with strong sanitizing potential.

This allows not only to clean dishes and cutlery but also to eliminate more germs. We can buy one of these detergents or even produce it at home. Vinegar, lemon, and other natural elements will suffice for an effective disinfectant for dishes.

The sponge must be intact. Over time, it can become an authentic receptacle for germs and bacteria. For this reason, we recommend changing it frequently. The abrasive part is useful for removing scale. In all other cases, we can also rely on the softer part.

Before effectively sterilizing the dishes, let’s take care of the sink. Cleaning its surfaces before doing the dishes reduces the number of germs. And to do this, we can still use vinegar. You can use it pure or with water. If we opt for the latter option, we use the two elements equally.

We create a mixture of water and vinegar and clean the sink with it. This mixture can be used on dishes and cutlery even after normal washing with detergent. We wash dishes and cutlery and rinse with running water. So we rinse a second time with the vinegar mixture.

We can do the same with lemon. The advantage of these two elements is also to remove bad smells. It can become an ally during daily cleaning, even for the rest of the house. Another excellent ingredient for cleaning and sterilizing is baking soda. With it, we can produce an excellent sanitizing detergent for cutlery, dishes, and pots.
