How to clean an aluminum door
Aluminum is a material that is spreading more and more in our homes for furnishing doors and windows. The reason for this material’s success, naturally present in silver color, is that it is an extremely light metal, resistant to oxidation, which guarantees excellent acoustic and, above all, thermal insulation.
To all this, we can add its extreme durability over time that makes it preferable to other materials for the home. Now let’s see, in particular, how to clean our aluminum door.
There are indeed many common cleaning methods used for cleaning aluminum doors and windows. Many of these can be defined as ” homemade, ” as they are mainly based on products that we can easily find inside our homes.
One of the first methods used is based on only two products: common dish soap and kitchen vinegar. You will have to create a solution with these two products, mixing them, then you will apply the obtained on your aluminum door and rinse carefully.
A small variation of this method can be achieved by using Castile soap. In this case, you must first clean the door with a damp cloth, wash with soap, and only then remove it using the mixture of water and vinegar.
On the other hand, a second method consists of preparing a solution of oil and denatured alcohol (in practice, that pink substance you often find in giant bottles). The doses to be used are divided based on 50 and 50 to obtain a stable compound. Then wash and rinse carefully.
The common uses for cleaning aluminum doors are not over yet. Most homemakers have the habit of washing with water and sodium bicarbonate. In this third method, for the happiness of many, it will not even be necessary to rinse, apply the product, and let it dry.
But now, as promised, let’s evaluate how much all these cleaning methods are really optimal, or if they risk damaging the material in the long run and causing us economic damage.
The first point is that most manufacturers of aluminum doors and windows advise against aggressive or corrosive products for their cleaning that can permanently damage the object in question. All chemicals such as solvents, alkaline products, acids, or alcohol are banned.
Obviously, it is necessary to avoid using abrasive tools, such as steel wool, to remove any stubborn dirt. If so, wet and let the dirt soften until it comes off easily. The manufacturers’ advice is to wash with a neutral and non-abrasive cleaning product.
Greenlight to all home cleaning methods that do not use aggressive substances, but stop all those remedies that, even if they seem natural and cheap, in the long run, would lead to greater damage than the simple expense of an industrial product on the market.
