How to Clean a Glass Showcase

Cleaning the windows is one of the cleaning operations that require more attention because, by using the wrong products, damage to the surface may be caused, which is impossible to repair.

In particular, cleaning glass windows must be carried out without using most of the products used to clean the windows. In this guide, we will see how to clean a glass display case safely.

The first method to effectively clean the glass windows is to use warm water and vinegar mixed in equal parts. Before starting, wipe the display case with a clean cloth to remove dust, pour the solution on a cloth, wipe the surface gently, rinse only with water once the operation is finished.

In the presence of grease stains (caused, for example, by fingerprints), you can use a cotton swab always soaked in water and vinegar. This solution will also allow you to remove flies and other insects from the window in the following days because they will find the smell rather unpleasant (without being unpleasant to humans). Even more effective cleaning is obtained by passing a chamois cloth at the end of the work, which does not release the hair.

An alternative method is to use newspaper sheets (use the pages of a normal newspaper); start by wetting a sponge, wipe the surface and dry it with a sheet of crumpled newspaper with your hands. You can use a synthetic deerskin cloth instead of the sponge, but, in this case, it is recommended to immerse it in hot water for a few hours, rinse it several times and then pass it on the display case.

If there is a spray product for crystal surfaces in the house, you can spray it directly on the display case, wiping it with a sheet of newspaper, always crumpled, then use another sheet of newspaper to dry.

If the crystal is satin (or decorated), pour a small amount of a neutral detergent product, checking that it does not contain silicone, then rinse with water and wipe with a microfibre cloth, always in the same direction.

If, on the other hand, the crystal is sandblasted, use a natural bristle brush, then wash the surface with a mixture of water and Marseille soap flakes and finish the job with a chamois cloth.
