Cleaning the house can sometimes be tiring, but you can clean quickly with excellent results knowing a few little tricks. One of the most problematic things to clean, at least in appearance, are the sofas.
For example, if it comes to leather sofas, you need to take great care of them and treat them with the right products to prevent the leather from being damaged. If they are canvas sofas, on the other hand, they usually have a removable cover for washing. In this guide, we will explain just how to clean a canvas sofa.
Depending on the type of sofa you have, the methods for cleaning it will differ if your sofa is in canvas but does not have a removable outer cover. Cleaning the canvas surfaces maybe a little more challenging.
Gentle cleansers must be used. To proceed, you will need to pour a small amount of detergent on a damp cloth or sponge. Rub very gently on the surface of the sofa, paying particular attention to the dirtiest areas.
Another method for cleaning a canvas sofa is to dilute a dishwasher or laundry detergent with a little water. Pour the solution onto a wet sponge and rub the fabric.
Spray the canvas with a strong, steady stream of water to completely remove the soap. Let the sofa dry in the open air without direct sunlight, as the canvas may fade. Apply a fabric protector, as it helps repel water and dirt stains.
The canvas can also be cleaned through a steam wash. Brush the encrusted stains with a bristle brush and remove debris from the surface. Add 3 grams of carpet cleaner to warm water; dip a cloth into the solution and lightly rub a small sofa area.
Check after 10 minutes with a paper towel to verify that the canvas has not changed color. Perform the steam cleaning by pushing the nozzle against the fabric to avoid any fabric streaks. Do not make more than two passes for each area as the color may fade.
Apply dry-cleaning solvent to a cloth to remove stubborn dirt and stains. Moisten the clean cloth and press it on the canvas to remove the solvent. Add about 1/4 of specific detergent for canvas and 1/4 of distilled water; mix well and a foam. Wet the cloth with soap and water and wring it out. Wash the sofa in small sections to make sure you delete the soap. Finally, dry the damp areas with a clean, dry cloth.
