How to Polish the Taps

There is nothing better than a clean, shiny bathroom. However, to obtain a glossy effect on your taps, it is important to use the right precautions and procedures. There are several procedures to give your taps a shiny effect. I recommend that you carefully follow the methods proposed in the guide.

If the taps in our home are full of limestone and opaque, we can adopt some techniques and secrets to make them clean but, above all, shiny.

First of all, must clarify: is this guide suitable for those who have? Metallic? Taps. Before being able to polish the taps, they must be cleaned and scraped from any limestone. To remove limestone, use an abrasive sponge, coarse salt or bicarbonate, and a little olive oil. Let’s see in the next step how to prepare and then use the mixture.

Pour one or two tablespoons of oil into a cup, pour the salt/bicarbonate, and create a full-bodied and slightly dense mixture; we apply the mixture to the sponge and rub it on the surface circular and rotating movements. We rub for about a minute.

At this point, we should be able to remove all the limestone from the tap, but if, after a minute, there is still limestone present, then we continue for about half a minute or another full minute. Then, once the limestone has been completely removed, we proceed with polishing in the next step.

There are three methods to polish the taps, and you can perform one or even all three simultaneously. The first is a paste/wax treatment for metal polishing; we can apply it by rubbing it on the surface, and we can even use a polishing pad to use with a drill or a rotary cutter.

We leave the wax applied for at least ten minutes and then remove it with an anti-limestone tap cleaner. The second method is to apply a layer of vegetable butter and leave it on for at least ten minutes.

The third method is the most comfortable, effective, and also partly lasting. The third method consists of painting the taps and knobs with transparent tin polish applicable with a large and small brush for finishing; more conveniently, it is possible to spray transparent, glossy spray paint.

Note: Avoid too corrosive products, as you could damage your taps.
