To do this, we must take the item of clothing, place it on a flat surface and sprinkle it well with baking soda, paying particular attention to covering all the mold stains with baking soda. We leave the product to act for at least one night, and immediately afterward, we can shake the dress, making all the baking soda fall.

We use a brush to remove the rest of the baking soda, which will have stuck to the mold stains. Let’s hang it outside and let it rest for a day.

Ammonia and white vinegar: Against the smell of mold

If we didn’t want to use the washing machine, we could also wash our clothes by hand, with a solution that will remove the musty smell from the clothes. To do this, we have to take a basin and pour in it about 500 ml of ammonia and 5 liters of hot water.

Instead of ammonia, we can use either white vinegar or even baking soda. We dip our clothes inside it and leave it to act well so that the mold stains and the unpleasant smell go away. We rinse with cold water and spread out in the sun.

Hydrogen peroxide to eliminate the musty smell from clothes

Another beneficial remedy against the smell of mold is the use of hydrogen peroxide. We can use the 12-volume one, which is really a friend for white clothes in color, and mold spores have attacked that. Hydrogen peroxide can attack bacteria and molds and eliminate them.

To use it, we need to wet our musty-smelling clothes with hydrogen peroxide. Let’s close them in an envelope and let everything work for at least one day. Immediately afterward, we rinse the garment in the washing machine and hang it in the sun, which will help us eliminate the musty smell.

Chlorine dioxide, against the most stubborn musty odor
