10 ways to eliminate ants

Ants can be a huge problem in the home. When they infiltrate domestic environments, especially in the kitchen, getting rid of them is very difficult. Many remedies can be adopted to keep them away and eliminate them once they have entered. Here are 10 ways to eliminate ants.

1. Prevention

The first method is a simple trick to take in order not to attract ants. It consists of being careful not to leave open bags containing flour, coffee, or anything that could be palatable to them. Besides, care must be taken not to leave dirty dishes in the sink for too long and to remove crumbs from the floor after eating.

2. Spray the vinegar

Let’s now list some natural remedies that can be used to keep ants away: many products are intact that they don’t like and whose smell can contribute not to let them enter the house. The first is vinegar: put in a sprayer and diluted with a little water; it will create an anti-ant barrier.

3. Put the cucumber peels in the corners

Try to find out where the ants come from, what angles and interstices they use to get inside the house, and place cucumber peels there. This vegetable is very unpleasant for ants, which will keep away from it.

4. Use lemon

Even the acrid smell of lemon is particularly unpleasant to ants: putting a few slices sprinkled with black pepper on the corners of the house will help keep them away and clean with lemon juice combined with baking soda may also be a good idea.

5. Sprinkle the salt

If you can identify where the anthill is from which the ants invading your home arrive, sprinkle the entrance and the paths that the insects make to get to your home with salt. They will immediately change direction and probably also abandon the anthill.

6. Use corn starch

On the market, there are poisonous products. The ants pick them up and take them to the anthill, then eat them and die. Leaving them around the house, if you have pets or children, can be dangerous. Alternatively, corn starch can be used, which kills ants because they cannot digest it, but is harmless to other animals and humans.

7. Vacuum the anthill

You may happen to host ants called ” carpenters ” in the house, who like to infiltrate wooden furniture and corrode them from inside. In this case, it will be sufficient to identify the anthill, which is usually placed between the domestic walls, and suck it up with the help of an electric aspirator.

8. Place the coffee grounds

Coffee grounds are one of the most effective remedies ever to remove ants, but they act after some time. The coffee grounds confuse the ants: if you put them near the anthill, they will abandon it and make the younger larvae die. In short, the rest will disperse.

9. Spread the rice

Rice does work a little same way as corn starch, but not when it is ingested. The grains brought into the anthill cause the development of fungi and molds that will kill the colony without putting poisonous substances around the house.

10. Use baking soda

Baking soda is useful especially used in the garden. You have to spread it around as if it were poison. It is toxic to ants that will keep well away. It works a bit like salt, and ash also has this same effect.
